Let’s face it- health care reform is complicated.  Experts sometimes seem to speak their own language, casually referring to things like “comparative effectiveness research” and the “Health Insurance Portability Act of 1996” as though everyone knows what they’re talking about. That’s why we developed these resources- to help make health care reform a little less intimidating.

Definitions is an alphabetic list of some of the most commonly used and most confusing terms you’ll come across in reading about health care reform.

History of Health Care This is a time line of some of the most important developments in health care in the United States.  As you’ll see, people have been fighting for health care reform for almost as long as health insurance has existed.  We’ve made major steps in the past 100 years, but there’s still a long way to go.
