Big news from Vermont

Vermont’s governor Peter Shumlin signed a healthcare reform bill into law on Thursday, making Vermont the first state in the country to begin adopting a single payer system. Also, the radio program, Democracy Now, has a great interview with Dr. Deb Richter, president of Vermont Health Care for All, who Gov. Shumlin has called the “backbone” of the grassroots effort that helped convince the Democratic-led state legislature to pass the bill.
