About Us

We are several individuals living in Western Pennsylvania who over the course of involvement in our jobs, our families, and our communities have discovered that the health care system in this country is broken. Every day, we encounter stories of friends and neighbors who have partial access or no access to medical care; who face mounting costs even with insurance, and who have had doctor prescribed exams and treatments turned down by their insurance companies. We hear of fundraisers for those who had to choose between health insurance and putting food on the table, who fell or got sick or xyz. And everything we’re getting for these precious dollars is becoming more and more limited and of poorer quality. It is no longer safe to assume that America has the best health care system in the world.

We decided that we wanted to do something about this.
In our research, we have made some discoveries:

  • The health care system consists of thousands of plans, policies, programs.
  • The reform movement consists of many viewpoints, organizations, and much legislation.
  • There is no easily accessible place that condenses all this information and presents it in an easy read for the average person.

So beginning in early 2007, this is what we set out to do.

Our Policies

For the moment we are not trying to suggest solutions to the problems of health care in this country. We want readers to understand the range of problems with American health care. Once we’ve explored this side of things, we will begin to propose specific solutions.

It is WhatIfPost.com policy to always include citations for statistics and articles in a list of sources following the blog or piece, or as embedded links (denoted by blue lettering).
